Attendance is a critical aspect of academic success at United Ceres College (UCC). Students are required to adhere to specific attendance requirements to maintain their enrolment status and qualify for exams or certification. Here’s everything you need to know about our attendance policies:
Attendance Expectations for All Students
Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes and remain present for the full duration of each lesson. Attendance is recorded by the teacher for every class session.
Any attempt to misrepresent attendance, including claiming presence when absent or leaving early without authorisation, is treated as a breach of student conduct.
If a student is unable to attend a class due to medical reasons, a valid medical certificate (MC) must be submitted. For all other reasons, prior approval from the College is required. Absences without valid documentation or approval will be recorded as absent.
Attendance Requirements
Attendance requirements vary based on a student’s enrolment status. Students must meet the applicable minimum attendance threshold to be eligible for examinations and course completion.
Local students (Non-Student Pass holders) are required to maintain a lower minimum attendance threshold. Student Pass holders are subject to stricter attendance requirements in line with Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) regulations, and their attendance is more closely monitored throughout the course.
Where attendance falls below internal monitoring levels, early intervention measures may be applied to support the student and prevent further decline. Failure to meet the minimum requirement may affect examination eligibility, certification, and regulatory reporting where applicable.
Minimum Requirement:
-
Local students (Non-Student Pass holders): 75%
-
Student Pass holders (STP): 90%
Consequences of Non-Compliance
Students who fail to meet the minimum attendance requirement may:
- be disallowed from sitting for final examinations,
- have final results or certificates withheld,
- be required to attend counselling or academic intervention sessions.
For Student Pass holders, persistent or significant attendance shortfalls may also result in regulatory reporting, in accordance with ICA requirements.
Attendance reflects a student’s commitment to their studies. Meeting attendance requirements is essential for academic progression and successful course completion.
