The Academic and Examination Board of United Ceres College was established in 1 April 2020. The Academic Board is responsible for the review of UCC’ policies and procedures on academic quality, including the development of standards and approval of teachers. While the Examination Board’s primary objective is to develop examination and assessment procedures, including conduct of examinations, security of examination papers, duties of invigilators and markers, moderation of marks and handling of student appeals.
Academic Board Function
The Academic Board is to look into the academic quality and rigour of United Ceres College which include:
- Developing the policies and procedures to ensure academic quality and rigour such as:
- ensuring that the content and duration of the modules or subjects, as well as the entry and graduation requirements, of the course are appropriate; and
- approving deployment of teachers based on the requirements stipulated by the Committee for Private Education (CPE).
- Facilitating the implementation of and compliance with the policies and procedures developed; and
- Reviewing at least once a year, the academic policies and procedures.
Examination Board Function
- Propose written and/or practical assessments, review marking of scripts and/or coursework and attend the meeting(s) of the examination board
- Provide informative comment and recommendations on any good practice and innovation relating to the learning, teaching and assessment they observe, and also on opportunities to enhance the quality of the learning opportunities provided to students.
- Ensure that judgement made by assessors and teachers about the academic standards of students are acceptable, and to ask that any concerns they have be minuted at the board in question.
