Apply for Your Student’s Pass

Begin your STP submission on ICA’s official portal with your UCC details.

Overview

If you’re an international student joining United Ceres College (UCC), you’ll likely need a Student’s Pass (STP) from Singapore’s Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA). The process is straightforward—this guide walks you through eligibility, required documents, and every step until your pass is issued.

Do You Need a Student’s Pass?

YES, you need an STP if…

  • You are an international student admitted to a full‑time course at UCC.

NO, you typically don’t if…

  • You already hold a valid Dependant’s Pass (DP)Long‑Term Visit Pass (LTVP), or Immigration Exemption Order (IEO).
  • Your course is a short course that can be completed on a standard Visit Pass.

When to Apply

Applications should be submitted 2–3 months before your course begins. This timeframe ensures sufficient processing. If you require a visa to enter Singapore, your application may take longer, so early preparation is strongly recommended.

What You’ll Need

To complete your application, have the following ready:

  • Registration details from UCC (sent to you directly)
  • Passport biodata page
  • Personal details such as education history and address
  • Recent ICA-approved passport photo
  • A Singapore contact number (this can be updated later)

Tip: If you require a visa, the In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter doubles as your entry visa. Always keep both digital and physical copies of your documents in case ICA requests originals.

Additional Documents by Nationality

The required documents vary depending on your country of origin.

For students from visa-required countries (e.g. China, India, Myanmar)

  • Notarised and translated birth certificate, highest education certificate, and transcript
  • Copy of your passport
  • Parents’ employment letters stating designation, salary, and duration
  • Bank deposit statement
  • Four recent passport-sized photos (400×514, white background)
  • Certified true copies of all photocopied documents

For students from non-visa countries (e.g. Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka)

  • Notarised and translated birth certificate
  • Family or household card (where applicable)
  • Highest education certificate and transcript (notarised and translated)
  • Copy of your passport
  • Four recent passport-sized photos (400×514, white background)
  • Certified true copies of all photocopied documents

Additional notes: If you have worked since graduation, you must provide an employment letter. If you have taken short courses, certificates or school letters should also be included.

How to Apply

The application process is online through ICA’s SOLAR+ system.

  1. Receive login details from UCC
  2. Complete eForm16 accurately
  3. Wait for your In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter

After You’re Approved

Once your IPA is issued:

  • Medical check-up: complete the medical examination and upload the report
  • Confirm appointment: attend ICA or a UCC-arranged enrolment session

Getting Your Student’s Pass

The STP is digital-only. ICA will notify you by email, and you can download the pass via FileSG and view it on Singpass within three working days of issuance.

Practical Tips

To make your arrival smoother:

  • Book flights only after receiving your Single Journey Visa (if applicable)
  • Inform UCC at least two weeks before arriving in Singapore
  • Request airport reception and accommodation assistance via helpdesk
  • Upon arrival, report to Untied Ceres College: 37 Middle Road, UWEEI Building, #05-00, Singapore 188946

Processing Time and Appeals

ICA’s typical processing time is around 14 working days, although peak periods may take longer. If your application is rejected, appeals may take up to four weeks. IPA letters are only released after UCC has received your course fees.

Rules and Regulations

ICA enforces strict conditions for Student’s Pass holders. Penalties for violations can be severe, including fines and imprisonment. Always check ICA’s official site for the latest updates.

You must

  • Maintain at least 90% attendance and avoid being absent for three consecutive days without reason
  • Obey Singapore laws and maintain good conduct
  • Cancel your STP within seven days of completing or leaving your course

You must not

  • Work or run a business without a valid work pass
  • Overstay beyond your pass expiry
